Chambres d'isolement en psychiatrie : état des lieux en France

In psychiatry, the use of seclusion remains a practice spread both in France and at international level. Seclusion is considered as a care in full measure by the medical community. But it is also a hindrance in individual liberty. The present article takes stock of the situation on the modalities of implementation of such a care. Official recommendations of the National Agency of Accreditation and Valuation in Health will first be treated. In second time, the specific and general legal frame that can apply to the use of seclusion will be itemized. Finally, a short synthesis will sum up the use of this care in psychiatry.
