The authors have analyzed the feasibility of all weather conditioning of water in an open swimming pool in the four climates of Indian plains by exchange of heat between the pool water and ground at a depth of 4 m. It is seen that this concept can be implemented by having two systems of pipes under (i) dry sunlit and (ii) wet shaded ground at a depth of 4 m and using these for exchange of heat between the ground and the water in the pool in a certain operational mode to maintain the pool water temperature between 22 °C and 27 °C. An operational mode (dry sunlit or wet shaded), the corresponding required flow rate and the pumping power for every month of the year has been evaluated, corresponding to the four climates in the Indian plains. It is seen that the concept of exchange of heat between the ground (at a depth of 4 m) and the water in the pool is suitable for all the four climates in the Indian plains.
► All weather open swimming pool water conditioning.
► Heat exchange between water and ground by pipes.
► Water temperature 22–27 °C maintained.
