Analysis of herbal supplements for selected dietary minerals and trace elements by laser ablation- and solution-based ICPMS

► A LA-ICPMS method was developed to measure trace metals in herbal supplements. ► Yield recoveries for reference materials were 85%-110% for the elements studied. ► Results were comparable to solution-based ICPMS which involved acid digestion. ► Metal levels in the supplements were below daily allowance and minimum risk levels.
