Syntheses, structures and electrochemical properties of homoleptic ruthenium(III) and osmium(III) complexes bearing two tris(carbene)borate ligands

► Homoleptic Ru(III) and Os(III) NHC complexes were prepared and characterized. ► Molecular structures of these complexes were determined by X-ray crystallography. ► XPS and CV measurements reveal the strong donating nature of the carbene ligand.
