New histone deacetylase inhibitors based on 4-fluoro-2-amino acid esters: Synthesis and activity

The selective synthesis of γ- and δ-fluoro-α-amino acids as well as their application as building blocks for the construction of new histone deacetylase inhibitors is reported.
