Manganese oxide hollow spheres with high surface areas have been prepared using a butyric acid emulsion template and doped with Fe, Cu, V, and Ce. Doping promotes yolk formation within the shells, as well as sphere filling. These materials are active catalysts in converting isopropanol to acetone.127
