Synthesis and reactivity of oxygen ligated molybdenum(II) carbonyl complexes

We report here the first monomeric oxygen ligated d4 MoII complexes which are supported by two acetylacetonate or tropolonate ligands. Alkyne and phosphine complexes (LX)2Mo(CO)(RCCR) and (LX)2Mo(CO)2(PPh3) have been characterized. The alkyne compounds undergo exchange reactions with alkyne and phosphite ligands as well as oxidation to d2 MoIV oxo species.
