Hetero-octanuclear cubane-like and one-dimensional cyano complexes with the N,N-dimethylethylenediamine ligand

Herein, bimetallic octanuclear and binuclear complexes were obtained. The reason for this difference is thought to arise from the strong CH⋯Ni interactions between the methyl groups and the Ni(II) metal with a small radius.
