Lipophilic compounds in femoral secretions of male collared lizards, Crotaphytus bicinctores (Iguania, Crotaphytidae)

► We used GC-MS to characterize femoral gland secretion of male collared lizards. ► Main compounds were steroids, fatty acids, alcohols and waxy esters. ► We discuss the potential function of some compounds in intraspecific communication.
