An assessment of the genetic diversity of Cedrela balansae C. DC. (Meliaceae) in Northwestern Argentina by means of combined use of SSR and AFLP molecular markers

► High correlation between AFLP and SSR markers was found for Cedrela balansae. ► Moderate levels of genetic diversity were found in C. balansae in Argentina. ► Genetic structure of C. balansae was weak and no isolation by distance was found. ► High historical gene flow was detected between C. balansae populations. ► In situ conservation of C. balansae populations was proposed.
