Genetic diversity and population structure of Nibea albiflora in the China Sea revealed by mitochondrial COI sequences

► We employed COI gene sequences to assess the population structure of Nibea albiflora. ► The haplotype diversity was medium/high and nucleotide diversity was low. ► N. albiflora populations have developed significantly divergent genetic structures.
