Immunochemical properties of seed proteins as systematic markers in Cactaceae

► Seed protein polymorphism of Cactaceae was assessed by immunochemical analysis. ► Western blotting allowed us for the mapping of protein regions shared among 10 cacti species. ► Differences in antigenic patterns were tightly related to systematic affinity. ► Differences were higher when members of other subclasses were considered.
