Isolation, distribution and allelopathic effect of caffeic acid derivatives from Bellis perennis L.

► This study reports on the isolation of caffeic acid derivatives from Bellis perennis. ► The allelopathic effects of the metabolites on coexisting species have been tested. ► The distribution of metabolites in plant organs and the presence in soil are reported. ► The chemotaxonomy of these compounds has been briefly discussed.
