Genetic diversity of Stryphnodendron adstringens (Mart.) Coville determined by AFLP molecular markers

► Stryphnodendron adstringens extracts are extensively used in Brazil as healing agent. ► AFLP technique was efficient to determine S. adstringens genetic diversity. ► S. adstringens genetic variability is not correlated to geographic distance. ► Accessions with high yields of tannins (≥40%) presented higher genetic similarity.
