Genetic diversity and population structure of Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus from Niger Delta based on AFLP analysis

► Genetic characters of C. nigrodigitatus were examined by AFLP. ► The results showed low levels of genetic diversity in the Kaduna River. ► It implied an urgent need to adopt protection measures to protect it. ► The potential dispersal of the adult and juveniles limited gene flow among locations. ► The results indicated different habitat responsible for its current genetic structure.
