Isozyme diversity and genetic structure of buckwheat populations

► Genetic diversity of Fagopyrum was studied by variation of nine enzyme systems. ► High genetic variability was observed at the species and population in Fagopyrum. ► The phylogenic relationship of Fagopyrum is in agreement with the achene size. ► Southwestern China should be the original center of cultivated buckwheat.
