Chemotaxonomic interest of iridoids isolated from a Malagasy species: Perichlaena richardii

► Three caffeoyl-iridoids were isolated from Perichlaena richardii. ► One of its iridoid, verminoside, proved to be a good inhibitor of 15-LOX. ► Caffeoyl-iridoids appear to be a chemotaxonomic marker of the Paleaotropical clade. ► On the basis of the new classification of Bignoniaceae, the distribution of iridoids in this family was updated.
