Advances in tetrahydropyrido[1,2-a]isoindolone (valmerins) series: Potent glycogen synthase kinase 3 and cyclin dependent kinase 5 inhibitors

A library of 20 new tetrahydropyrido[1,2-a]isoindolone derivatives were designed and evaluated against protein kinases . Several derivatives inhibit strongly CDK5 and GSK3. Among them, compound 29 has exhibited excellent activity against the seven tested human cell lines.206
