Luotonin-A based quinazolinones cause apoptosis and senescence via HDAC inhibition and activation of tumor suppressor proteins in HeLa cells

Novel quinazolinone hybrids were designed and synthesized for activation of p53 and its dependent genes p21 and p16 by the inhibition of HDACs, resulted in growth arrest of cervical cancer cells and changes in expression of key proteins, leading to senescence.
