Facile synthesis, cytotoxic and antimicrobial activity studies of a new group of 6-aryl-3-[4-(methylsulfonyl)benzyl]-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines

► A series of novel 6-substituted-3-[4-(methylsulfonyl)benzyl]-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines were synthesized in good yields. ► The structures of synthesized compounds were established on the basis of spectral and analytical data. ► Synthesized compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity and antimicrobial activity. ► Most of the compounds exhibited significant cytotoxicity. ► A few derivatives exhibited antimicrobial activity comparable with that of the standard drugs used for testing.
