Synthesis and biological evaluation of novel (E) stilbene-based antitumor agents

► In this study we synthesize (E) stilbenes. ► The compounds were tested for their antitumor activity using 8 different human cancer cell lines. ► dSeveral derivatives are cytotoxic; one of them even in a nanomolar concentration. ► The compounds act by apoptosis.
