Synthesis and cytotoxic activity of some 17-picolyl and 17-picolinylidene androstane derivatives

► Total of 25 androstane derivatives were synthesized. ► Cytotoxic activity of selected compounds were tested against five tumor cell lines. ► Some compounds showed strong cytotoxicity against human breast adenocarcinoma ER−. ► All compounds were not toxic to health MRC-5 cells.
