Syntheses, crystal structures, luminescent properties of two new molecular solids with tetra(isothiocyanate)zinc(II) and substituted benzyl triphenylphosphonium cations

- Two molecular solids containing [Zn(NCS)4]2− anion were synthesized and characterized.
- The [Zn(NCS)4]2− anions in two molecular solids form 1D chain through weak S⋯S interaction.
- The cations in 2 form a 1D column through CH⋯S, CH⋯O hydrogen bonds and p⋯π interaction.
- Two molecular solids show strong fluorescence emission in the solid state at room temperature.
