► Ionic liquid [bmim]OTF rescued the activity of HRP in the presence of SDBS. ► [bmim]OTF might reduce the CMC of SDBS. ► SDBS served as the template and doping agent for conductive polyaniline. ► PANI possessed excellent electrochemical properties by using both SDBS and [bmim]OTF.
