Structure in ternary blend systems for organic photovoltaics

► The organic dye OPc is incorporated in polymer-based solar cell P3HT:PCBM. ► Formation of ternary blend shows extended absorption. ► Photovoltaic performance is decreasing with organic dye content. ► No aggregation of OPc is observed in the ternary blend films.
