α-6T on Ag(1 1 0): The formation of the wetting layer

► α-Sexithiophene growth on Ag(1 1 0) surfaces in the Stranski-Krastranov mode ► Initial growth of the wetting layer studied by PEEM and STM. ► Wetting layer is formed by two molecular layers. ► First layer form checkerboard and homochiral phase. ► Topmost layer: molecules align along [0 0 1] direction in meandering worm-like rows.
