Mutual diffusivity, network dilation, and salt bath poisoning effects in ion-exchanged glass

► A two-level model is presented for the dependence of mutual diffusivity on salt bath poisoning. ► Model predictions are in good agreement with experimental data. ► Dependence of the activation barrier for mutual diffusivity on glass/bath composition is studied. ► Magnitude of the network dilation anomaly is lower for aluminosilicate glass compared to soda lime glass.
