Evaluation of the guided random parameterization method for critical cooling rate calculations

►The guided random parameterization method is thoroughly tested for two silicate glasses. ►Crystallization onset times are calculated for several scenarios using literature data. ►Several overlooked variables are shown to significantly influence the onset times. ►We demonstrate that the GRP method can only be applied to a very special case. ►We propose some changes to make the method more general.
