Plasticity enhancement in Zr based bulk metallic glass by sand blasting

▶ In order to improve plasticity of Zr58.3Cu18.8Al14.6Ni8.3 BMG, there exist a threshold amount of pre-straining required for the generation and intersection of multiple shear bands. ▶ Sand blasting induced evolution of nanometer size phases offer hindrance to the movement of shear bands. ▶ As a result, considerable large plasticity can be achieved.
