Manipulating electrolyte and solid electrolyte interphase to enable safe and efficient Li-S batteries

By tuning electrolytes, the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfide and the growth of lithium dendrites were totally suppressed simultaneously with the highest Coulombic efficiency in our novel concentrated electrolyte and pseudo-concentrated electrolyte. Thanks to the robust solid electrolyte interphase and highly coordinated electrolyte, sulfur cathode maintains a reversible capacity of 786 mA h/g at 0.1 A/g and 644 mA h/g even at 1 A/g after 300 cycles.315
