Theoretical and numerical investigation of bending properties of Cu nanowires

► Three-point bending simulation model with a real tip is established. ► This model provides the full spectrum of the mechanical properties of nanowires. ► The simulation results are consistent in shapes with those from experiments. ► The simulation results agree with the classical beam theory with axial effect. ► Comparable mechanical properties are obtained from bending and tension.
