Creep behavior of commercial FeCrAl foils: Beneficial and detrimental effects of oxidation

► Creep and oxidation testing were conducted on FeCrAl foils at 800-1050 °C. ► Depending on stress level mechanically or oxidation induced failures were observed. ► The alumina scale growth was found to strengthen the foils at high temperature. ► A creep model based on the properties of the foils and alumina was developed.
