Processing and properties of silicon carbide and its composites containing MoSi2 and ZrB2

► Hot pressing of SiC and its two composites containing MoSi2 and ZrB2 with AlN and yttria as sintering aids. ► The second phase decreases the strength and improves the fracture toughness. ► SiC becomes good electrical conductor due to the presence of conducting phases. ► Second phases reduce the thermal diffusivity of SiC.
