A Mössbauer investigation of the formation of the Ni3Fe phase by high energy ball milling and subsequent annealing

► Ni-Fe alloys obtained by milling are investigated by Mössbauer spectrometry. ► Annealing favours the formation of a Ni-Fe phase with a composition close to Ni3Fe. ► The Ni-Fe phase is obtained in a disordered state. ► The spontaneous magnetization is connected with the proportion of Ni-Fe phase.
