Effect of powder state on spark plasma sintering of TiAl alloys

► Two TiAl prealloyed powders (atomized/atomized + milled) were prepared by SPS. ► Phase transformations and densification occur at lower temperature for the former. ► Densification takes place by grain boundary sliding for the milled powder. ► Densification takes place by gliding and twinning for the atomized powder. ► Microstructures are heterogeneous after the densification for different reasons.
