Wave modeling performance in the Gulf of Mexico and Western Caribbean: Wind reanalyses assessment

▸ Wave modeling was done for the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea using 3 different wind reanalysis. ▸ An assessment of the accuracy of the hindcast was done for mean wave climate and extreme events. ▸ NARR reanalyses had not been previously evaluated for use in wave modeling. ▸ ERA-interim data gives most accurate results for mean wave conditions and NARR for cyclonic events. ▸ Reanalysis spatial resolution has an important effect on wave modeling results.
