Characterization of sulfakinin receptor 2 and its role in food intake in the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum

- The second sulfakinin receptor (skr2) gene in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum was cloned and is evolutionarily close to the two DSKRs of Drosophila.
- SKR2 exhibits a highly conservation in the seven transmembrane regions as GPCP.
- skr2 was expressed in the larval, pupal and adult stages and with a high expression in the head but also in other tissues.
- RNAi experiment with dsskr2 confirmed that SKR2 plays an important role in the regulation of food intake.
