Effects of fertilization with urban and agricultural organic wastes in a field trial - Prokaryotic diversity investigated by pyrosequencing

► Field trial using contemporary urban organic waste like sewage sludge, composted household waste and human urine as fertilizer. ► Microbial diversity of the soils was investigated using tag-encoded pyrosequencing. ► No major changes in diversity were found due to soil treatments. ► QPCR of specific groups of bacteria was used to obtain an estimate of the number of all bacteria provided by pyrosequencing.
