On the non-existence of three-dimensional water waves with finite energy

In this note, we prove the non-existence of non-zero, static, finite-energy solutions for the classical water wave problem in three dimensions, for a large class of non-trivial bottom surface topographies. Then, using some Lie symmetry analysis, we extend this result for travelling waves.
