Amorphous silica nanoparticles do not induce cytotoxicity, cell transformation or genotoxicity in Balb/3T3 mouse fibroblasts

► In vitro study on amorphous silica nanoparticles (aSiO2NPs) effects using Balb/3T3 cell model. ► No cytotoxicity by MTT and colony forming efficiency assay was observed. ► No genotoxicity by Micronucleus and no carcinogenic potential by Cell Transformation Assay were observed. ► Intracellular distribution studied by fluorescence microscopy showed NPs in the cytoplasmic region. ► aSiO2NPs might be a useful component in industrial applications.
