► The deletion of rlmA increased sensitivities towards CWI stress and oxidative stress. ► Congo Red stress resulted in alterations in the cell wall polymer composition and pellet sizes. ► CWI stress and RlmA modulated expression and production of some autolytic enzymes. ► CWI stress and deletion of rlmA had effect on the asexual spore production.
