Vascular smooth muscle Jak2 deletion prevents angiotensin II-mediated neointima formation following injury in mice

► We investigated the role of Jak2 in Ang II-mediated neointima formation. ► Mice lacking VSMC Jak2 are protected from Ang II-mediated neointima formation. ► Jak2 null VSMC are protected from injury-induced phenotypic switching. ► Jak2 induces neointima formation and phenotypic switching via increased Jak2/STAT5 phosphorylation.
