KCNJ5 mutations in aldosterone producing adenoma and relationship with adrenal cortex remodeling

► Somatic KCNJ5 mutations occur in up to 40% of APA. ► KCNJ5 mutations lead to activation of calcium signaling and increased aldosterone production. ► Adrenals with APA display increased nodulation, reduced vascularization and zona glomerulosa hyperplasia. ► Presence of KCNJ5 mutations is not correlated with adrenal cortex remodeling.
