Impact of higher order dispersion on phase induced power penalty for RoF systems
چکیده انگلیسی

In this paper, an analytical model is developed for power penalty in radio over fiber (RoF) systems. It includes phase noise from laser source, radio frequency (RF) oscillator, chromatic dispersion and its higher order components. It has been observed that there is a significant effect of dispersion, its higher order components, laser phase noise and RF phase noise on power penalty in a RoF single side band (SSB) modulation link. The power penalty has been found in the range of [2.1 and 3.2] dB due to increase in laser line-width from [10 to 620] MHz in the presence of first order, second order (2OD) and third order (3OD) order dispersion respectively. While increase in radio frequency oscillator line-width from [1 to 5] Hz induces power penalty of 40 dB in presence of first order dispersion and 42 dB in presence of 2ODand 3OD at carrier frequency 30 GHz at a transmission distance of 10 km.
