An image quality assessment based on regional weight

Evaluation of image quality still remains important and difficult. This paper proposes a novel objective approach, named Weighted Gradient Metric (WGM). This model measures the gradient similarity of the images, and takes regional weight into consideration. WGM is tested on a series of images under several typical degradation models. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method gain better performance and well matches human visual system (HVS).
