Study on the Heating Modes in the Hot Summer and Cold Winter Region in China

The buildings in the hot summer and cold winter region in China do not install space heating systems traditionally. However, with the development of the economics, the thermal comfort is getting in demand. Although heating technology has a long history and becomes quite mature in the severe cold area and the cold region in China, it is not fit for the hot summer and cold winter region. In the paper, based on the analysis of the local climate features and the properties of the local buildings, several heating systems are introduced and compared. The results show that the central heating system which is commonly applied in North China is not suitable for the buildings in the hot summer and cold winter region in China; the warm air heating system and the floor heating system are the suitable space heating forms; the heat pump systems including the air source heat pump system and the surface water heat pump and the ground source heat pump system are the appropriate choices as the heat source for the hot summer and cold winter region.
