An integrated guidance and control design approach for air-breathing hypersonic flight vehicle (ABHV) with strong aero-propulsion couplings and aerodynamic constraints is proposed in this paper. By exploiting the inherent nature of multi-time scale of hypersonic flight vehicle dynamics, the guidance and control system is designed based on time scales of subsystem dynamics, with the fast dynamics serving as the pseudo-control for the slow dynamics. Feedback gains are computed online as symbolic functions of the state variable along the reference trajectory, and no explicit gain scheduling or mode-switching is needed. Comparison with linear quadratic regulator control is conducted and performance of the proposed approach is demonstrated via high fidelity simulations with considerable aerodynamic uncertainty and environmental perturbation.
