Operation Innovation: A Writing Workshop for Nurses

As members of a fourth-time Magnet®-designated organization, our nurses are expected to engage in research and evidence-based practice (EBP) projects, and are supported throughout the process by the Center for Nursing Excellence.1 At the conclusion of their projects, they are also encouraged to disseminate their information, ultimately in the form of a peer-reviewed publication. However, publication can feel daunting and unattainable without structured guidance to include step-by-step support, even for the most experienced nurse leader. Writing for publication is not intuitive, and generally is not a skill focused upon during academic preparation. Like any skill, it is developed over time and is most likely to result in a successful outcome with instruction, practice, and mentoring.
