Evaluation of Structural Integrity of Aerospace Structures

Modifications are made in the average stress criterion for the fracture strength evaluation of selected high strength alloys. To take in to account the variation of the characteristic length with the crack size in fracture model, a relation for the characteristic length is proposed in terms of the fracture strength and ultimate tensile strength of the material. Failure assessment diagrams are generated and validated with test data.
