Intraosseous access in children. New applications of an ancient technique

- Intraosseous access must be considered in life-threatening situations, where an intravenous access is not already in place.
- When a child with difficult intravenous access is scheduled for anaesthesia, a semi-elective intraosseous insertion can be considered as first choice.
